Mission Statement

The intention of this site is to provide for the web surfer, a virtual one stop search for everything in British Columbia and eventually if all goes well, the country.

This is a very large endeavour that will become more efficient and powerful with the input of registered members and the businesses that care to utilise the site's current features with many more to come. Although registration is not necessary to get all the benefits of the database and other site attributes, added benefits to your membership offers you the ability to personalise and save settings as well as the ability to post anything to the site which includes the classifieds, forums and the BallotBox.

“Everything in a Nutshell” is saying a lot, but we actually do want to eventually do everything but this will definitely be a process of growth, so please bare with us as we realise our vision for an easy to use, fun, personalised powerful community website.

In Toronto in the 1970’s a local pizza franchise launched a new call center feature that utilised one consistent phone number that would automatically connect you to the store in your area. Now this service is being used around the world for many services by many companies. This is a similar premise in which we based the Nutshell upon.

Most Communities have their own local website, in the form of either a commercial, municipal and of course their local Chamber of Commerce. Also, many local businesses both store front or home based have intricately designed sites that deserve as much exposure as they can get.

Now with the advent of the Nutshell you may from any pc on the internet, anywhere in the Province or actually as you can see from some of our members, the world, you will now be able to access all the communities of British Columbia through one easy to remember URL or web address. Then simply select the community or communities you’d like to check out.

All local community websites will be showcased with a free basic account and links to tier site. Some communities will benefit from the services offered more than other as they may simply have more to offer or they have comprehensive community sites already in operation. The more eyes we can bring to the efforts of all the websites and businesses and peoples opinions the better.

The directory will become very detailed. As more businesses register to take control of their free basic account and manage the standard information and add their logo, or they may choose to upgrade to a premium account and add all the detail they need including images to present what they have to offer. Well, eventually it will be a matter of, if you can’t find it in your region, then it probably doesn’t exist in your region.

The “NUTSHELL” offers a variety of services to showcase and facilitate the eclectic array of services and products your community has to offer. Our directory will have complete local Business listings with full keyword search for services and products as well as the classifieds and events.

A template for an eventual delivery service for each community to bring products from participating businesses to your home or lodging ordered by way of a virtual ‘shopping cart’ is also in development.

Whatever you may be looking for, you’ll have a variety of ways to find it.

Members FREE services like the “CHATTERBOX” an onsite chat server and the “LETTERBOX” an onsite message/pager service will aid in finding businesses, products, organizing events or an evening out on the town with friends.

A variety of room topics in the “CHATTERBOX” to suit the culture of your community will make it fun to get to know your neighbours.
